Getting to know a person, whether it be a love interest or a friend, is not easy; it will actually be a struggle for some at first, but it’s always nice to know someone thoroughly– from being total strangers to acquaintances, to friends then to best friends/lovers. You name it!
It would take a lot of time and effort though. It’s impossible for you to fully know a person at once– it is something that has to go through a number of stages. You get along and spend time with them every so often so you could figure them out little by little. And as you spend more time with that person, you are getting more aware of the various things about him/her; apart from their personality, you get to have knowledge of their likes and dislikes as well.
But there is something that matters more..
The little things.
Yeees, the little things. It’s when someone remembers and notices the little things about you. The things you tell them and/or the things they observe. When they pay attention to the little details MORE than the big ones. Someone who doesn’t remember everything but the important, overlooked little piece of information..
It feels nice to know that certain people in you life know numerous things about you, may it be big or small– the things you like, and those that you don’t. Your favorite color, food/snack, drink, ice ream flavor, chocolate, cupcake frosting, frozen yogurt toppings (!!), candy, song, song to sing along, movie, pair of jeans, pair of shoes, TV show, mobile game, restaurant (and your favorite dish in their menu), the foods you do not like, the foods you do not eat, the things you laugh at, the kind of jokes that could get you laugh the most, the time you sleep and the time you wake up, the things you do during your spare time, the things you like to do, the places you want to go, the kind of music you listen to, the kind of books you like to read, the kind of clothing you usually wear, how you do your hair, your pet peeves, fears, dream job, movies that made you cry, your #1 most played song on your iPod, favorite time of the day/day of the week/month of the year–the list never ends.
It is nice to have someone in your life who knows the little details about you. It actually makes my heart flutter when someone remembers the minor things about me. When they show random acts of thoughtfulness like ordering cheeseburger without pickles at McDonald’s because he/she knows that I don’t like pickles in my burger. Or removing pineapple bits on my slice of Hawaiian pizza because I prefer eating them separately, or maybe just getting Pepperoni pizza instead because they know it’s my favorite. *wink* I find it sweet and endearing that he/she is aware of those little things. You know, you don’t need to get me fancy stuff or surprise me with flowers and a teddy bear to make me happy. I do appreciate the big things but it’s the SMALL ones that get me the most.
Going back, it’s always exciting to get to know a person; may it be another person or yourself. It is a never-ending process– even after such a long time new things will keep popping up. Do not overlook the little things, I suggest you pay attention to those instead– For they aren’t actually little. 😀
