Checked in at Luxent Timog the night before. It was a Friday, may pasok ako until 8. Noon palang feel ko na yung tension. I wasn’t even able to sleep that night (not because of excitement) kundi dahil kabang kaba ako. I was so worried. Iniisip ko kung ano ang ganap bukas. Kung gaano ka “fail” yung party ko, since we rushed everything and most of the people I invited won’t be able to come.
Actually noon palang kabang kaba na ko, mga 2 months before. Ayoko kasi mag 18 roses! Alam ko hindi sya pwedeng mawala kasi traditional talaga yon, pero ayoko lang talaga. Siguro kasi hindi ko alam kung ano ang gagawin ko kapag nandon na. Feeling ko sobrang awkward non. But one time, I asked for a sign, sabi ko “Pag umulan magrroses na ko”, then it rained, Oh dehba everyday it’ll rain, rain, rain, raiiiiiin. (wehhh)
Kung tutuusin, sobrang rush na nung debut ko. We weren’t able to prepare ahead of time. Inasikaso nalang namin lahat nung February na; gowns, invitations, dance number and other stuff. Kaya naman I’m really glad kasi kahit ganon, my party was a success. Thanks to my coordinator, Ninang Riza Mendoza and the team! (Red circle productions)
Grabe, sobrang bigat ng pinagdaanan ko throughout the preparation. I’ve became so melodramatic over some things. My parents scolded me every night. Blaming me for not doing anything. Aba kaloka!! Kaloka talaga. Weeks before my debut ang iniisip ko na agad “Sana matapos na to. Ayoko na.”
Also, my parents always asked me “Gusto mo ba talagang magdebut?” “Perahin mo nalang, o kaya kotse.” I didn’t really want to have a debut party, honestly. The fact that it’s a once in a lifetime experience made me refuse my parents’ offer, “Dadating din ako jan, magkakakotse at pera din naman ako soon.” I told myself. Which is true! If only we (girls) could celebrate our 18th party 5 or 10 years after, why not diba? Kaso hindi, it’s either you go for it or not. Opportunity yan! Not all girls are fortunate enough to have a fancy 18th celebration. Yung iba nga masaya na sa isang cake at konting salu-salo (naks), sino ka para tanggihan ang bonggang celebration at magdemand pa ng mas bonggang party?! Wag ka na maginarte! (Ohh…. those were actually the things I told myself haha! 😀 )
Okay fast forward na to March 9. My party was held at QC Sports Club (was supposed to be at Unilab bayanihan at Mandaluyong kaso ngalang all weekends of March have been booked already! Sayang, ugh pwede magdebut ulit?)
Obviously, it was candyland-themed party. A friend of mine said “Sobrang nagreflect sa Candyland themed debut ni Maine ang pagkagirly at childish niya. It’s like a 7th birthday party but with a twist and on a higher level. Hindi siya nakakainis. Nakakatuwa at nakakaaliw kasi masaya lang yung atmosphere. Partey partey lang talaga.”

Meet the family! I know I don’t look like any of my siblings or my parents, as in no resemblance at all…. but one thing for sure, I’m not adopted.

I’m just roaming around your blog and I happened to land here at your post about your 18th birthday. I noticed that you linked Cristine’s blog (OnMyWayToEuphoria: A Journey to MaineDei’s Candyland) here so I went directly to it (since I cannot view your pics, might as well try it with hers, LOL). Her post is really nice, especially knowing some things (that are not yet known to many) about you. You two seem to be good friends. I admire you a lot..as in A WHOLE LOT. Not because of your funny image and showcasing talent in EB, but because I’m getting able to know you deeply through your POSTS. 🙂 Believe me, in ALL HONESTY, I am really dying to be able to meet you in person. huhuhu.
The main reason why I actually have this urge to comment (this is actually my first time though) is when I’ve read the latter part of Cristine’s post:
“Ang napuntang tanong sa kin was, “Kung magiging artista si Meng, ano ang ipapakita niyang talent?” OMG. Napakarami niyang talent. I believe, mostly, siya lang yung nakakaalam at yung iba pa-usbong pa lang. Hahaha. My answer was, “Yung talent po niya na ipapakita is yung siya yung unang gagawa sa buong Pilipinas.” Haha. Playing safe.”
Woaah! I bet you didn’t see that coming. Play safe it is..but SHE IS TRULY RIGHT! Yung talent nga na pinakita/pinapakita mo today is IKAW pa lang yung unang gumawa sa buong Pilipinas (and in the whole World as well, I believe). Sino bang mag-aakalang magkakaroon ng isang artistang hndi nagsasalita at puro Dubsmash lang ang gagawin, pero sumikat? See! Amazing, isn’t it! HAHA! 🙂 She really does know you very well. Nakakatuwa lang. Hindi mo rin siguro inexpect, ano? You are genuinely talented kasi.
God won’t always give you the things you want, but He’ll surely give you what you truly deserve.
